The incense ceremony commemorating the King Kongs at the House of 54 Peoples is the central activity of the "Centre of Heritage in the Heart of the Capital" event organized by the Hanoi Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism in coordination with local agencies, units, contributing to honoring the cult of the King Kong and promoting the value of the Hall of Honor in the cultural space of the House of 54 Peoples Vietnam.
In a festive atmosphere, the delegation along with the artisans, fellow citizens representing the community of peoples perform the rite of passage from Hùng Vương Square to the National Temple. In the temple court, the ceremonial master and the representatives offered incense at the altar in front of the temple gate, then entered the temple, continued the ritual of offering sacrifices, offering incense in memory of the King of the Jungles. The ceremonies are celebrated with dignity, expressing the generosity of the ancestors, while reminding generations of the historical and cultural traditions of the people.
Deputy Director of Hanoi's Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism Trần Trung Hiếu emphasized at the ceremony that the cult of Hùng Vương is a special symbol of the awareness of the origins and spirit of the Vietnamese community, which was inscribed on UNESCO's Intangible Cultural Heritage List in 2012. Drinking philosophy, remembering the source not only shows the gratitude of the ancestors but also reminds each generation of the responsibility to preserve the values that make up national identity and power.
The temple has a special place in the cultural space of the Village of Culture - Tourism of Vietnamese peoples. It is not only a place of worship but also a common source of connection with the cultural diversity of the 54 ethnic communities. The formation of a cultural space for the worship of Hùng Vương at the meeting place, introducing and promoting the distinctive cultural values of the Vietnamese people's community, creates a meaningful point of connection: from the common roots of the people to the diversity, richness of cultural communities that are living together in Vietnam, Vice Director Trần Trung Hiếu asserted.
In this sense, the Shrine of Our Lady is also a traditional educational space, nurturing an awareness of the origins and spirit of national unity. The cultural values here are not only preserved, introduced but also practiced, communicated through the community itself - the creative and heritage-preserving actors. The presence of artisans, compatriots from different regions in the ceremony contributes to highlighting the bond between the common roots and the unique identity of each community.
From Phu Thu, the land is associated with the Hùng Vương cult, to Câm Mau with the distinctive cultural values of the Khmer people, and the communities that live and work in the Village, events create a space of exchange, cultural connections between the regions. Through it, the image of a unified Vietnam in diversity is vividly expressed, with the same orientation towards the origin and shared responsibility for the preservation of the national heritage.
Addressing heritage conservation and promotion, the Deputy Director of the Hanoi Department of Culture and Sports stressed: "Conservation of heritage is only truly sustainable when heritage is placed in the life of the community, passed down through generations and promoted in contemporary life. Accordingly, conservation needs to be linked to cultural practices, promoting the subjective role of communities and developing sustainable tourism, enabling heritage to continue to exist in today's life.
This spirit is expressed through the chain of activities of the Heritage Source event in the heart of the Capital. In addition to the incense offering, the public had the opportunity to enjoy Xoan singing, Guo singing of Fu To; learn about the traditional culture of the Khmer peoples of Ka Mau province; experience baking cakes, shoes, see human performances, discover handicrafts, cuisine and the characteristic products of Hanoi and the locals. Exhibition activities, photographic exhibitions contribute to the introduction of the Shrine of Our Lady of the Assumption, the cult of the King and the cultural life of the community of peoples.
Hanoi also aims to promote the value of the Shrine of Our Lady, enhance heritage connections between the locals and develop spiritual cultural tourism products linked to community experiences. Through it, the Village of Culture - Tourism of the Vietnamese peoples continues to develop as a space of convergence, cultural exchange, where common origins are honored and the heritage values of the peoples are preserved, passed down through generations.
